Here I am the morning of June 5th excited to meet my baby boy, but having no idea how much my life was about to change.
2 hours and one surgery later Tim and I officially became parents. Here we are meeting Lincoln James. (They found some XL scrubs for me.) We have been in love ever since. (I love him more)
Those of you who are close to me know I can be emotionally awkward (whaaaa?) and that I had all kinds of weird concerns before giving birth. It is crazy how being a parent just comes naturally and all of my concerns just went out the window. (Like whipping your boob out for all to see in front of nurses and friends... I think the the drugs helped). I got lucky I got to skip the whole contractions/labor thing. It was no surprise my baby was going to be big (yea buddy!), and with my 5'2 frame we agreed to a C-Section to avoid some seriously scary complications. The nice thing about a planned C-Section is you go to bed like normal, wake up, have a surgery, and voila... baby.
Surgery is still surgery, but mine went super smooth. Being a malpractice attorney (she somehow forgot to tell our doctor that.) I know all kinds of crazy complications that most people don't hear about regularly, so going under the knife is a little scarier for me. I was most worried about the epidural. Needles around the spine are never safe. Necessary, but scary. Being numb from the waste down was definitely the weirdest thing of this whole process. It definitely creeped me out seeing people move my legs but not being able to feel them. As scared as I was going into the O.R. everyone was super light hearted and having fun. (Duh, you are married to a comedic genius) It made the O.R. a fun place to be (as weird as that sounds since I was having surgery).
Most of our family was in the waiting room ready to meet our little boy! My friend Ashley came and took some amazing photos. I love this picture of my mom meeting her first Granbaby...
and this one of the pass off between the two Grandpas. (no fumbles)
Ashley is so good at capturing these moments without you even noticing she is in the room. These pictures are such a precious gift. Here is our first professional family photo.
I delivered at Plano Presbyterian, and have nothing but great things to say about everyone there. While in the hospital we had several visitors including Lexi! (Thanks to our awesome nurse Barbara) She found Lincoln immediately.
Minus a break down or two (for the love of God let your baby sleep in the nursery so you can get some sleep!) our stay in the hospital was great, but we were ready to get home. We had no idea what was ahead of us, but here are Lincoln and Daddy about to find out!
